Troubleshooting

Confirm Paper 1.21.11–26.3 (inclusive) and Java 25 or newer on the server, then inspect the startup log. Use a matching vanilla first-person Minecraft client, an operator account and run:

/frameui status
/frameui preview aurora
/frameui stop

Record the exact error, effect ID and relevant log lines when asking for help. Keep personal Studio links private.

  • Accept the required server resource pack in your Minecraft server settings.
  • With the default relay enabled, verify that the server can make outbound HTTPS connections. The default loopback direct URL does not need to be public in this mode.
  • With the relay disabled, make sure resource-pack.public-url is reachable from the player’s computer. A URL that works on the server computer alone is insufficient.
  • After changing pack content, accept the refreshed pack. If hosting the ZIP externally, replace that hosted ZIP too.

Restart after host or public-URL changes. /frameui reload does not rebind the host.

Check frameui.command.preview, the exact ID and enabled. Then check both global-filters and the effect’s filters: required/denied permissions, current world, game mode, time, weather, trigger eligibility and cooldowns. An administrator does not bypass those filters.

Use /frameui effects all 1 to find IDs. /frameui preview random can only select eligible effects. Catalog permission alone does not grant preview permission.

Open Events → When to play or inspect play-on in the saved server file. Default automatic assignments are empty. A browser draft must be imported or saved before it affects the server.

For legacy pools, check both the loading switch and the relevant automatic pool. For plugin events, check the integration state, native event ID, target name, world filters and actual successful local teleport. A pending TPA is not a teleport.

FrameUI keeps the last accepted runtime state when validation fails. Fix the filename and key reported by the error, then reload again. Common causes include:

  • An ID that does not match the filename, duplicate IDs or an unknown template.
  • Unknown YAML keys or invalid values.
  • minimum-ticks smaller than entrance, or maximum smaller than minimum.
  • show-hands: true combined with hide-hud: true.
  • Missing, oversized or invalid PNG files.
  • A pool or addon assignment referencing an unknown effect.

See the effect schema. A successful reload closes current and pending screens.

Keep your player online and retain frameui.command.editor. Personal links expire after 30 minutes; /frameui editor creates a replacement and invalidates the old link. Open the new link instead of reusing the old tab’s connection.

If the server effect changed elsewhere, reopen it before saving so you have its current revision. Export a ZIP first if you need to preserve an unsaved draft. Relay unavailability affects connected saves and relay pack delivery; standalone editing and ZIP export remain available.

Studio is a browser simulation using the effect renderer, sample caption values and a captured player view. The gallery videos are Studio renders, not live gameplay recordings. Test the final design in Minecraft, including captions, aspect ratio, hand/HUD visibility, transitions and cleanup. Rendering mods and unsupported clients may differ.

Custom values in messages.yml override translations. Update the matching languages/<code>.yml entry for translated defaults, and check that the selected language is valid. Effect titles and captions do not translate automatically.
