Import and Export

Click Export effect to download a ZIP containing one effect definition, all its referenced images and installation instructions:

effects/
lobby-welcome.yml
images/
lobby-welcome.png
INSTALL.txt

The image folder is only needed when the definition references an image. The exact PNG names can differ; keep every file at the path recorded in appearance.image or elements.objects.<id>.image in the YAML.

  1. Back up any existing definition with the same ID.
  2. Extract into plugins/FrameUI/, merging effects/ and images/ with the existing folders.
  3. Run /frameui reload and resolve any reported validation error.
  4. Accept the refreshed resource pack.
  5. Run /frameui preview lobby-welcome using your effect’s actual ID.

A new ID creates a separate effect. The same ID replaces an existing file when you manually overwrite it. Do not replace the whole effects/ folder with the single exported folder.

If the generated resource pack is hosted externally, upload the rebuilt ZIP after installing changed content. The default maintained connection handles pack delivery automatically.

Use Import to open .yml, .yaml or a Studio .zip. A ZIP carries all referenced PNGs, including additional image objects. A YAML file contains settings and an image path, not the image itself; choose the matching image if it is missing.

Imported content is a browser draft until exported or explicitly imported/saved to the connected server. Review event bindings, filters, name and ID before publishing it to your server.

The footer’s Download YAML action exports just the definition. Use it when managing image files separately or reviewing configuration changes. Use a full ZIP to move a complete image-based design between computers.

Connected Studio accepts its bounded effect bundles, not arbitrary plugin folders or resource-pack archives. A connected upload is limited to 9 MiB; PNG limits are 8 MiB and 2048 × 2048 pixels. Bundles contain one effect YAML, its optional PNG and optional INSTALL.txt.

Built-in IDs are protected by connected import; create a custom copy. Revision checks protect saves to existing server effects. See Connect Your Server.

Browser storage is convenient for drafts but can be cleared or unavailable. Export completed work and any design you need to keep. Your browser library does not automatically synchronize to another device or server.
