System Files

While TNT Run provides many configuration files for customization, it also manages several internal files that act as the plugin’s memory. These files are structured specifically for machine reading and fast data access.

File PathPrimary FunctionManagement Method
arenas.ymlStores arena setup data, locations, toggles, signs, effects, and records.Managed via /tr edit <arena>.
data/stats.ymlLocal database for player statistics and arena records.Used only when database: flat is selected.
Block snapshot dataStores removed block snapshots for crash-safe arena restoration.Managed by the block removal system.
menu/Stores inventory menu layouts for setup, stats, and spectator tools.Safe to customize if required item keys stay intact.

This is the most critical system file. It contains every arena’s location data, map name, map author, map difficulty, readiness state, player limits, sign location, scoreboard and bossbar toggles, potion effects, and record data.

  • Why you shouldn’t touch it: A single malformed value can prevent an arena from loading correctly.
  • How to update: Use /tr edit <arena> and the Setup Menu to change arena options.

When your server is set to flat database mode, all local player statistics are recorded here.

  • Why you shouldn’t touch it: The plugin keeps player data in memory while the server is running. Manual edits can be overwritten by cached data.
  • How to update: If you absolutely must edit this file manually, shut down the server completely first.

This data belongs to the block recovery system. If your server restarts unexpectedly while a match is active, saved snapshots allow TNT Run to restore removed arena blocks.

  • Why you shouldn’t touch it: Deleting or editing recovery data can leave arenas damaged after interrupted games.
  • How to update: Configure behavior through block-removal.yml instead.

The menu/ folder contains GUI layouts such as setup-menu.yml, stats-menu.yml, spectator-settings-menu.yml, and spectator-teleporter-menu.yml.

  • Why it is safer to edit: Menu files are designed for customization.
  • What to keep: Required item keys and actions should remain intact so the backing menu code can still find them.
